Marc Brownstein- The Brownstein Group
Marc Brownstein went to his first client meeting at the age of three when his father, founder of what was then Brownstein Advertising, had unexpected babysitting duties and brought Marc along. Since then, Marc has had a love affair with the business and art of advertising. After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, Marc set out to test his mettle in New York. He spent one and a half years as a copywriter at Doremus/BBDO and six and a half years at Ogilvy & Mather, becoming one of the youngest members of Ogilvy’s new business development team. He has created award-winning campaigns for AT&T, American Express, Sports Illustrated, Hershey Foods, Hallmark, Campbell Soup and TimeWarner.
In 1989, Marc—with heredity now sharpened by experience—joined the firm his father founded and assumed the responsibilities of Executive Creative Director and, later, President. In the years that followed, Brownstein Group experienced five-fold growth in both staff and billings, adding a Seattle office, a digital marketing division, and clients such as Microsoft, DaimlerChrysler, ESPN, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, The Wharton School, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens, Majestic Athletic, The Philadelphia Auto Show, Callaway Golf, Siemens, and IKEA to its roster.
Brownstein was honored when his agency received ‘Best of Show’ in the 2007 ADDY Awards, recognizing an agency’s outstanding creativity. He was also awarded the 2007 Communications Industry “Good Scout” Award for his commitment to community service.
Marc serves on the board of directors of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Greater Delaware Valley Chapter), Kyle’s Treehouse Foundation, Penn State University’s School of Communications Board, the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) and is the in-coming chairman of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO Philly). He is also a member of the Super Advisory Board of the Philadelphia Advertising Club, past chairman of the board of directors of the AAAA Philly Council, and a regular speaker before industry groups.
Marc has made community involvement a priority for the firm, and Brownstein Group supports a number of causes both locally and nationally.
His real passion is for his family: wife, Amy; daughters Sophie & Molly; and son, James.
